The 2025 Montessori Global Awards celebrate educational environments that are reimagining what learning can look like for children today. Among this year’s recipients, Young V&A was recognised with the Innovation in the Creative Arts Award for its exceptional contribution to creative learning in the early years.

Young V&A stands as a powerful example of how museums can move beyond traditional models to become dynamic, child-centred spaces for exploration, imagination, and expression. Designed with children at its heart, the museum offers environments that invite curiosity, encourage hands-on engagement, and place creativity at the centre of learning.

Through thoughtfully curated spaces and experiences, Young V&A supports children to explore ideas, materials, and stories in ways that are meaningful to them. Its approach reflects a deep understanding of how creativity supports confidence, critical thinking, and lifelong learning — values that sit at the core of Montessori-inspired education.

As part of the Awards Ceremony, the Innovation in the Creative Arts Award was presented by Anni McTavish, artist, educator, and long-standing advocate for creative, child-led learning. In the video below, Anni shares her reflections on Young V&A, highlighting what makes the museum such a unique and inspiring space for children, families, and educators alike.

Her words offer a thoughtful perspective on the museum’s vision, its commitment to creativity, and the wider impact of creating environments where children’s ideas are valued and nurtured.

The recognition of Young V&A reflects the growing importance of creative arts as a foundation for learning – not as an add-on, but as an essential pathway through which children make sense of the world. We are proud to celebrate a setting that continues to set new standards for creativity, access, and innovation in education.
