Montessori Global Education’s collaboration with Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots started in 2021. That partnership included publication of practical resources for early educators, helping them empower children to understand our planet and the living world.
Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots began in 1991 with sixteen Tanzanian High School students. Today, it is a global network of young people of all ages who become involved in hands-on projects of their choosing, for their local community, for animals and for the environment. Roots & Shoots groups are now in nearly 65 countries, with members from pre-school through to university, and an increasing number of adults. It is estimated that there are 150,000 groups around the world. The holistic approach of the Montessori philosophy for children’s education from an early age compliments the Roots & Shoots values of educating, inspiring and taking action to create a better future for our planet.
