Montessori Group is delighted to appoint writer and broadcaster Carole Stone CBE to the Board of Trustees for a term of three years from September 2021.
Carole is an author and freelance radio and television broadcaster, who spent 27 years at the BBC beginning as a newsroom secretary and going on to become the producer of Radio 4’s flagship discussion programme ‘Any Questions?’ At Montessori Group, she joins a diverse Board of Trustees chaired by author, inspirational speaker and CEO of Nosh Detox, Geeta Sidhu- Robb.
In 2018, Carole Stone established The Carole Stone Foundation with her late husband the former BBC Panorama broadcaster Richard Lindley to support their belief that connecting people, exchanging ideas and building friendships around the globe are all essential to make the world a fairer place. This is in line with the values of the Montessori Group, which is working towards creating positive change by supporting families, practitioners and sustainable education by collaborating with partners such as UNESCO.
Carole brings a robust network of connections to the Board, with whom she regularly gathers to discuss issues of the day. As a freelance journalist and broadcaster, and former media consultant, she is in touch with influential people who can where necessary spread the word about the Montessori approach.
In 2015, Carole was appointed Chair of the Ambassadors of The Tutu Foundation UK, which works to prevent and resolve conflict to help people build peaceful communities across the UK, based on the principles of Archbishop Tutu’s ‘Ubuntu’. This is a Southern African term translated as ‘I am because we are’ or ‘humanity towards others’; the concept that we can all learn from each other and share information, as somebody somewhere has the answer.
