What is MonteStory ?

Building Your MonteStory is a six-session, Montessori-inspired programme supporting families and their babies through early parenthood.

The programme encourages both parents and facilitators to feel confident in their role as a baby’s first educator, with supportive tools that are simple, intuitive, and grounded in Montessori principles.

It seeks to build confidence in the “First Educator” vision and particularly directs support and guidance towards less-advantaged areas, families, rural regions, or parent-child relationships and contexts where any support for parents, has been missing.

Baby Start (born from practitioner innovation at Home Start West Somerset) was the catalyst for the evolution of a neat, 6 session programme that centres Parent’s as child’s first educator. We call this MonteStory.

Often parents reflecting on their own educational experience, have felt that this “educator” role was not for them. In many situations parents feel that support for anything like an interest in the educational journey for their child, even in the very earliest weeks and months, is “inaccessible” and as a result, many families feel that they are somehow less-equipped, or less-able to positively influence the early moments of educational experience for their children.

We know this is not the case – we know that we can make a difference by presenting a tried and tested, trustworthy, method of viewing educational practice – we can make a holistic, well-rounded and sensitive approach to growth and development, “accessible”, “achievable” and “inspired” by the Montessori Philosophy – a grounding for learning for life.

We are excited to now offer direct training and support for 50 individual facilitators to coordinate with us and offer the MonteStory programme in their locality — offering families the gift of MonteStory.

Spaces are limited to 50 new facilitators activating this initiative in the coming months.

  • For early years teams, community partners, charities, support groups, and Montessori centres – including those without a baby class – supporting young families in your community, even if their babies aren’t enrolled in your setting.
