Baby-Start, delivered by Home-Start West Somerset is an interactive programme for local parents with babies aged 0-12 months. It empowers new families to give their baby the best possible start in life – educating parents about the importance of child development, promoting attachment between infants and carer givers, providing opportunities for peer support and developing friendships, and equipping parents with confidence to offer their babies choice in their own learning.

Clare Pound, Manager at Home-Start West Somerset stated “the Montessori approach works brilliantly in parallel with Home-Start’s own practice. We’re so excited about a future with Montessori – and especially the Baby-Start programme Endorsement, what an accolade! Now planning is in place for further child and family led schemes”.

The International School of Musicians (ISoM) believes in breaking down the barriers to music education. ISoM is committed to breaking away from traditional music teaching and examinations. It provides a state-of-the-art platform to deliver music examinations online – to any student, anywhere in the world, with all learning materials provided for free.

Dr June Fileti, Managing Director at ISoM says: “We are delighted to have Montessori Global Education endorse our Early Years Music Examinations through their STAR Framework. Our approach to music education and assessment aligns with the Montessori method, in which we encourage children to develop their curiosity and explore a world full of music and expressive sound. Our examinations are driven by academic research, and we are proud that our detailed and carefully constructed work in the Early Years sector is recognised and valued as a beneficial provision for children. We are thrilled to be the first to offer this unique experience for young people! It is an honour to have Montessori Global Education recognise and value our work.”

Maria Montessori valued musical activities at the same level as any other form of early learning, saying “We tend to think that the realm of music is the privileged area of some happy few. Experience has taught us, however, that if offered the right kind of education from a very early age onwards, anyone is capable of entering the realm of music. Not everyone has the talent to practise music at an artistic level, or create new work, but everyone can reach a stage where they can enjoy it.
